Events in 2020
Giving Tuesday (December 1, 2020)
LHF was able to meet our goal of raising $5,000 for our general funds to support various LHF programs through our Giving Tuesday campaign. We would not have been able to do it without each and everyone’s support through Gofundme, Facebook, Paypal and through mail. Thank you!!! Below are the links to both campaigns:
“Getting Lao’d” Virtual Screening (September 26, 2020)
LHF host a virtual screening of “Getting Lao’d a documentary by Dr. Steve Arounsack on September 26, 2020 in place of our annual gala. The first ever virtual event for LHF was a huge success. We were able to raised enough funds to cover the Luang Prabang summer camp program for the summer of 2021. We are grateful for Dr. Steve for allowing us to show the film and we are grateful to all of you for generosity and support. Special thanks to Aluna Thavonsouk, the executive producer of the film who joined our discussion panel from Laos. You can view the Q and A session with Dr. Steve Arounsack and Aluna Thavonsouk here. You can also read more about the film here.
Virtual Dance and Lao Language Classes by LHF (July 13-August 6, 2020)
Due to Covid-19, LHF cancelled all of our live events including all summer camps across the country. As a result, LHF decided to offer free virtual traditional Lao dance classes for beginners and intermediate/advance level students Monday to Thursday for a period of 4 weeks. Each class was an hour long. Students learned a new dance every two weeks. LHF also offered a beginner Lao conversation class in the evenings for 6 weeks. Both program was a huge success allowing many students and families to participate that did not have access to LHF’s program prior because there was not a program in the area where they live. LHF will continue to provide virtual classes in the summer to those are do not have access otherwise. Check our website and facebook pages for schedules for the summer of 2021.
